Cuthbert ‘Twatinay’ Modest Commended For His Role In The Development Of Saint Lucian Athletes

Cuthbert Modest alias ’Twatinay’ has been recognized by the Saint Lucian government and is being commended for his hard work over the years towards the development of Saint Lucian athletes.

Modest has played major roles in developing some of the islands’ well-known athletes such as Darren Sammy, Lavern Spencer, Julian Alfred, Makeba Alcide and Jeannelle Scheper.

In a pre-cabinet briefing held on Monday 27th March, 2023 minister for Youth Development and Sports Hon. Kenson Casimir says it comes as a shock that this wasn’t done earlier.

“Every Saint Lucian who’s called me on this has said how shocked they are that this was not done before. Cuthbert ‘Twatinay’ Modest was the national coach when I first represented Saint Lucia at the age of nine. Every athlete including the likes of Darren Sammy, Lavern Spencer they would’ve had some counselor interaction interface with Cuthbert ‘Twatinay’ Modest.”

The minister says when the Saint Lucia Labor Party government came in and realized Modest had not been recognized for his hard work, it was mandatory that they gave him the recognition he deserved.
