The Ministry of Education has signed a contract with OB Sadoo Engineering Services Ltd for the rehabilitation and expansion of the existing building of the southern extension of the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College.
The contract signed in the office of the education minister will be for a duration of nine months and will be executed at a cost of 3.5 million Eastern Caribbean Dollars under the education quality improvement project.
The current building which houses the southern division of the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College will be renovated and will receive an extension to the existing structure.
Minister for Education Hon. Sean Edwards says the construction work is aimed at making the existing building more resilient to create a more conducive environment for learning and increasing capacity of the college to offer more programs to citizens in the south of the island.
“We are now realizing that given the demands for enrollment at the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College, particularly in the south as a reason for us to expand the existing facility down there.” the minister expressed.
The minister wishes to express his thanks to the Caribbean Development Bank for funding this project along with the contractor who has been awarded the project, OB Sadoo Engineering Services Ltd.
