β€œThe joy I felt coming from the students of the Anse la Raye primary school when we opened the school’s library on Friday December 6th, cannot be explained. The students were very excited and immediately immersed themselves in the books provided.

Often times we take the words of our Nobel laureate, Sir William Arthur Lewis for granted, that β€œthe fundamental cure for poverty is not money but knowledge”, but it has been written on my heart and continues to propel my colleagues and I to invest in education.

Libraries are important because they not only support the formal education system, but allow our children to flourish as they engage in self-learning which occupies their minds and the time they could have spent engaging in non productive activities.

Thank you to the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College for your support in seeing this dream come true. Thank you to the prime minister of Saint Lucia for your continued support to the children and people of Anse La Raye Canaries.

We will continue to put our children first!”

  • Hon. Wayne Girard, MP for Anse la Raye Canaries
