The vehicle belonging to Omar Defreitas has been found in a pond 300 yards away from where he was last seen on Friday 6th January, 2023.
Defreitas was last seen leaving a staff party at the Sandals Golf and Country Club at Cap Estate.
The discovery was made at 7:00 am by a golfer while playing early Tuesday morning.
Deputy Commissioner Ronald Philip says what was previously a missing person investigation is now being treated as a homicide investigation.
“The scene is currently being processed because since we are able to confirm the number as that of the missing vehicle from January 6th, we’re treating it as a homicide.” the Deputy Commissioner said.
He says the contents of the vehicle cannot be known since the vehicle was at that moment submerged under water.
“The vehicle is still submerged under water I cannot tell you the content of what’s in the vehicle now, so we’re waiting for the necessary equipments so we can take it out of the water so a formal examination can be made of that vehicle.” he added.
