On Saturday 8 April, 2023 about 10:15 p.m. Officers of the Police Marine Unit, Vieux Fort recovered a quantity of Controlled Drugs during an interception of a vessel at sea near the Gros Piton, Soufriere.
Officers intercepted a vessel named “Twilight” whilst on patrol about six (6) nautical miles South-west of Beaumont Point, near Gros Piton, Soufriere. There were two persons on board the vessel. The vessel was stopped and boarded, where three (3) packages suspected to be Cannabis was recovered.
The two individuals who were later identified as Ashley Joseph of Soufriere and Junior George of Rockhall, Castries were arrested and formally charged for the Possession of Controlled Drugs and Intent to Supply to Another. They were both taken to the Second District Court and each granted bail in the sum of ten thousand ($10,000) dollars for Possession of Controlled Drugs and fifteen thousand ($15,000) dollars for Possession with Intent to Supply to be paid in cash or suitable surety and other bail conditions.
