Hon. Philip J. Pierre says The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force has been instructed to use all available legal means to wipe off criminality in the country.
At Tuesday’s press briefing, the Prime Minister and National Security Minister Hon. Philip J. Pierre said he made a visit to the community of Vieux Fort following a spike in gang violence over the weekend.
The Minister says the community is still embracing and hopeful in spite of the recent killings.
He says the government intends to embark on a process of social intervention in carrying out crime reduction strategies. Still, in the meantime, the police force has been instructed to use all available legal means to wipe off criminality.
“This animalistic behavior cannot be tolerated and we can make no excuses for it, and I’m going to say it again, the police have been given the instructions to use all legal means necessary to wipe out that brutality that seems to be happening.” he said.
The minister says he is calling on the public to use their best efforts to assist the police and all hands on deck is required to ensure the current crime issue comes to an end.
