Compensation Granted To Persons Assisting Police Investigations Via New Hotline

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) has launched a new hotline that allows the public to assist the police in crime fighting and in turn, compensation is granted.

At a conference held on Monday 27th March, 2023 Commissioner, Crusita Descarte Pelius disclosed that persons are able to provide the police with information while keeping their identities anonymous.

“It’s 5-5-5, it’s a new hotline where persons, members of the public could give information to assist the police in crime fighting, and of course, their identity will remain unknown.” she said.

She says a code will be used in efforts to keep the identity of persons unknown and to also attain their compensation without the direct involvement of the police.

“We have put in place some code, a special code so when you give the information whilst we mention giving you some compensation if you give volunteer information. There is a particular code in place, we have it a way where persons would not know who are the ones volunteering the information.”

“Not necessarily the police, we are not involved in giving you the compensation. It is designed in a way that your identity will not be known, you will decide how you collect your compensation as it relates to the code that you will be given.”

The amount of compensation will be based on the information received.

The RSLPF says they are determined to make Saint Lucia a better place and whatever information they can get to do that is welcomed.
