Emergency personnel attached to the Dennery Police Station responded to a call for assistance at about 3:30 am on On Saturday, June 10, 2023.
It was reported that a female had been stabbed at La Pointe, Dennery.
On arrival, the officers observed one female with multiple stab wounds about her body.
The female was later identified as Bonita James thirty-three-year-old of La Pointe, Dennery.
She was transported to the St. Jude Hospital via ambulance, where she was later pronounced dead by a medical practitioner.
Leonus Pelage of La Pointe, Dennery was formally charged with causing the death of Bonita James On Monday, June 12, 2023.
Pelage was escorted to the Second District Court for a bail hearing.
He was remanded at the Bordelias Correctional Facility until a later date.
