Minister for Tourism Dr. Earnest Hilaire says the government has a lot to be proud of following the success of the Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival.
“We have a lot to be proud of, I think we put on a fantastic show over the weekend, we really did and it brought a lot of joy and satisfaction to a lot of Saint Lucians.” he said at a press briefing held on Monday.
The minister says the outpouring of support from patrons were beyond their expectations and the numbers in ticket sales were exceptional.
Prime Minister Hon. Philip J. Pierre also congratulated everyone who contributed to making the festival a success.
“I want to congratulate the organizers, the minister for tourism, the events committee, Saint Lucia Tourism Association and everyone who helped, the police in particular, everybody chipped in to make the festival what it was and I want to thank them.” he said.
Pierre says Saint Lucia now holds a festival that is world-renowned and that is worth millions.
“I want to thank them for giving Saint Lucia a festival that is world-renowned, giving Saint Lucia a name for something. – Saint Lucia is known we have re-established our name as a country where there is a big music festival, a big jazz and arts festival in May and that’s worth millions of dollars.” he added.
The minister says next year’s festival will be bigger and better.
