$45,000 Allocated To Newly Formed Vendors Association

The vendors of Soufriere have banded together to form an association. On Monday, May 1st, 2023 the new vendors association was officially launched at the Soufriere market.

A sum of $45,000 was allocated to the newly formed association by the Soufriere MP Emma Hippolyte.

“If I have 90 vendors or 91 vendors then I can get $45,500 from my CDP allocation and touch the lives and touch the homes of 91 vendors. So that is what we are doing. ” she said.

Each vendor will receive the sum of $500 from the funds allocated by the Soufriere MP. The funds will be deposited into an account at the Fond St Jacques Credit Union which is intended to help members save.

The association also received a pledge from the Soufriere Regional Development Foundation (SRDF). Chairman of the foundation Ernest Augier was in attendance and urged the vendors to maintain a good rapport with customers.

This vendors association will be beneficial in representing and bargaining on behalf of the ninety-one vendors which are currently a part of the association.
