The Saint Lucian Government has issued a diplomatic passport to ace-sprinter Julien Alfred.
The announcement came earlier this week in the Prime Minister’s Hon. Philip J. Pierre budget address.
He says Alfred will receive continued financial support from the government to ensure she receives the best training and opportunities after she graduates from the University of Texas.
The 21-year-old athlete has recorded several new records since the beginning of this year.
She holds a 100m PB of 10.72 and a 200m PB of 22.56 and is the National Record Holder for both events.
Minister for Youth Development and Sports Kenson Casimir took to his Facebook account to congratulate the sprinter.
“No more long lines when traveling anywhere in the world to represent this island. No more long lines when returning home to be with your family. The respect that you deserve will be given to you at airports around the world.” he wrote Wednesday.
