Ministry Of Home Affairs Launches Human Trafficking Public Relations Campaign

The Ministry of Home Affairs has recently launched the Human Trafficking Public Relations Campaign geared at educating residents about the dangers of the issue.

“It is essential to raise awareness about the issue and take action to prevent and combat human trafficking, this includes supporting organizations that provide assistance to victims, advocating for stronger laws and enforcement efforts. And educating ourselves and communities about the signs of trafficking and how to report it.” says Natasha Greaves, head of office, IOM Dominica.

“IOM current work on integrating the human security approach in disaster displacement and environmental migration policies also captures issues relating to human trafficking we all know how disaster displacement causes disruptions and can create an environment conducive to trafficking. Human trafficking and human security approaches are intertwined because human trafficking is a threat to human security, and addressing human trafficking necessitates the comprehensive approach that considers the broader factors that contribute to human insecurity.” she disclosed.

A recent report suggests that Saint Lucian children from economically disadvantaged families are at risk of child sex trafficking.
