Minister Calls out Countries Defaulting Payments to CDEMA

At a recent visit to the Agency’s headquarters in Barbados this week, Saint Lucian Minister for Sustainable Development and CDEMA Chair, Hon. Shawn Edward has called out countries who have defaulted payments to the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency.

The Minister explained that although he recognized the two-year financially strained period that countries experienced due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this was no excuse for defaulting countries to come to the table with some arrangement. Since assuming the post as Chairman, Hon. Edward has written to those countries and has reported on positive feedback received.

Hon. Shawn Edward assumed this position last August.
