At a press briefing held earlier today, Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Hon. Philip J. Pierre announced that work will resume on the St. Jude Hospital beginning tomorrow, Tuesday November 1st, 2022.
Prime Minister Pierre explained that after almost six (6) years, there needs to be site preparation and cleaning of the original building to resume works. He further went on to state that, “somebody will have to pay for allowing buildings that were certified by their own audit (referring to the previous UWP administration), that the buildings were fit for purpose and could be converted into a hospital with some changes.” He spoke of the previous administration misleading the public that it would take only six (6) months for the new building they built, and that the findings of the Hospital Review revealed that their building was nowhere near completion.
The Prime Minister exclaimed that he was delighted in making this announcement today, that the people of the south and the general population of Saint Lucia will finally have their hospital back.
