The people of Grenada went to the polls today to elect a new government. The National Democratic Party has been elected as the new government after beating the New National Party 9-6.
NDC’s leader Dickon Mitchell, age 44, will be sworn in as the country’s newest Prime Minister. Mitchell, a graduate of the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus in Barbados and Hugh Wooding Law School in Trinidad. He holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree (with Honours) and a Legal Education Certificate respectively.
Michell started his career as an Associate Attorney-at-Law with Grant, Joseph & Co in 2002 and later on bought the practice in 2006. He then started his own practice Michell & Co in 2016.
After serving in many official capacities as Notary Public for the State of Grenada, Honorary Consul for the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Grenada and Director for several statutory organizations, Dickon is now set to be the Caribbean’s youngest Prime Minister, taking this title from Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit, Prime Minister of Dominica who is now 50 years old.
