In a heated game against defending champions, Era Masters of Trinidad and Tobago, Gros Islet emerged victorious as the 2022 Veterans International Invitational Champions with a 3-1 win.
The events began with a welcome reception by Veterans in Sports Inc. and the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority last Friday evening and continued with games played at the Gros Islet Playing Field and the Daren Sammy Cricket Grounds in Beausejour.
Parliamentary Representative for Gros Islet, Hon. Kenson Casimir, who was present to support the team remarked, “I am proud of the efforts made by Gros Islet and their technical team as they captured the elusive Veterans tournament. After losing to the same team in the tournament last held in 2019, Gros Islet showed true character as they outclassed their Trinidadian counterparts. I look forward to our young players replicating this feat in the upcoming Blackheart Knockout tournament later this year!”
The Veterans International Invitational finals were played in Beausejour and ended with celebratory performances by Ricky T, Ambi and Extreme band.
