In light of a recent report supposedly originating from the US Government, as appeared in the New York Times, but not yet officially communicated to the Government of Saint Lucia, regarding potential travel restrictions which may be applied by the US if their concerns, which are yet to be stated, are not addressed;the Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) expresses its confidence in the Philip J. Pierre Administration to handle whatever challenges may emerge, should the New York Times report be authentic, with the efficiency and integrity with which it has managed the business of this country over the last three plus years.
At a time when strong diplomatic and economic relationships are crucial to the future prosperity, stability, and security of Saint Lucia, it is not the time for the Opposition to engage in baseless attacks that serve only to weaken our country’s position. Self-serving rhetoric and willingness to undermine Saint Lucia’s progress for personal and political gain is not the way to go. This is anopportunity to stand with our country—not against it.
Under the leadership of the SLP, Saint Lucia has made significant strides in economic growth, job creation, and investment opportunities. However, instead of supporting initiatives that empower Saint Lucians, the oppositionhas opposed policies that have brought tangible benefits to communities across the island. Worse still, some within their ranks have sided with convicted fraudsters to tarnish the reputation of our nation, recklessly jeopardizing our relationships with key international partners.
The SLP stands unwavering in its commitment to the people of Saint Lucia, prioritizing strong global partnerships, economic advancement, and national progress over partisan politics. We urge all Saint Lucians to join us in safeguarding Saint Lucia’s future by working together to reinforce our country’s credibility on the international stage.
The Labour Party stands firmly with the government in its determination to continue to provide responsible leadership to our country in order to protect the gains that it has brought to all sectors of the populace and to safeguard the benefits that lay ahead.
