Police Make Multiple Arrests in Strategic Operations

A partnership between the Traffic Department of the RSLPF and the Special Services Unit resulted in numerous arrests over the course of the last seven days. In an address on January 30th, Inspector Patrice Francis, the RSLPF is committed to ensuring that law and order prevail on the country’s motorways. As such, motorists are urged to comply with traffic laws or face the consequences.

175 vehicles were stopped. 8 vehicles were searched, 14 individuals were cautioned, 14 individuals were searched, 6 motor vehicles were impounded, 8 pairs of scissors were seized, 58 fixed penalty tickets were issued, 8 full front windscreen tints were removed. Three individuals were arrested, two for theft and one for the possession of a fraudulent driver’s license,” disclosed Inspector Francis.

An issue of contention for some vehicle owners are the regulations surrounding vehicle tints and writings. Inspector Francis, however, reminds motorists that the law is the authority on this matter. “We wish to caution vehicle owners against the practice of affixing writings anywhere on the front windscreen, below the 8 inches which is permitted by law, as this will obstruct their view of the road.”

Inspector Francis also updated the public on a theft which occurred on Vigie Beach on Sunday, January 26th, 2025: “A team of officers were dispatched from the operation. They identified the victim, pursued and successfully apprehended two suspects, and the stolen device was also recovered.”

Law enforcement also intervened in another incident on January 28th, where a theft occurred on Brazil Street, Castries: “Their prompt response led to the apprehension of another suspect and the recovery of the stolen item.”

Inspector Francis says these two thefts were referred to the Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
