Officers attached to the Criminal Investigations Department discovered a modified firearm while conducting searches at Marc, Bexon on Friday January 24th 2025. This search operation came in response to increased criminal activity being reported in the area.
Head of the CID, Inspector Shervon Mathieu, explained the additional features of the firearm now that it had been modified making it capable of rapid fire.
āThe firearm was equipped with an auto-sear, making it capable of fully automatic fire. This recovery is a significant step in the RSLPF’s effort to reduce gun violence and restore peace within the affected community. The presence of such a weapon poses a serious threat to public safety and its removal is a testament to the ongoing commitment of law enforcement,ā Inspector Mathieu said in an address.
Inspector Mathieu is asking Marc residents, and wider Saint Lucia, to report instances of crime they may know of and assist officers in their investigation.
āThe RSLPF urges all members of the Marc community to assist in the ongoing investigation by providing any information that could lead to the recovery of additional illegal weapons or the identification of individuals involved in criminal activities. All reports will be handled with the utmost confidentiality.ā
