In the wee hours of January 18th, 20-year-old Kacey Rosemond and her male companion, 23-year-old Imam Emmanuel, were the victims of a brutal shooting. The attack left Emmanuel dead and Rosemond nursing severe injuries at a medical institution.
Following the attack, relatives of the victim have appealed to the public for financial assistance in meeting Rosemondās extensive medical needs. According to relative Merlinda Adrien, the injuries include bullet penetrations to especially sensitive skeletal areas, like her spinal cord. Presently, she notes, Rosemond is paralysed from the neck down and requires a host of treatments before she can be cleared for surgery. These treatments amount to an apparent $25,000.00.
āShe got shot in her shoulder and a bullet travelled to her neck. So she has a bullet in her neck. She got shot in her hip. Doctors say it is touching the spinal cord. And she has a shot in her hand, in her arm, and her leg. For her to do the surgery, they gave my mother a list of things to buy,ā Adrien explained.
The family has organised a fundraising family fun day at the Bexon Playing Field on February 9th, 2025. The event commences at 10am and runs until well into the evening. The family promises live entertainment as well as food and drinks on sale.
A separate fundraiser online has been organised by relative Hazelann Anthony. At the time of writing, the fundraiser has a goal of $25,000 and has garnered 19 donations, totalling about 4% of the total amount requested. Anthony says this ordeal has taken a tremendous toll on her family.
āI, Hazel Anthony, along with Cassieās sister Merlinda Adrien and her mother Rosemary Rosemond, are reaching out to you for your support. The emotional and financial strain on the family is overwhelming,ā she said.
