The Ministry of Infrastructure, Ports, Transport, Physical Development, and Urban Renewal has launched a new traffic management system at Pointe Seraphine. The system aims to optimize traffic flow and reduce congestion at the busy duty-free complex, which welcomes hundreds of visitors and locals during the cruise season.
Consultations and Planning
This initiative follows a series of consultations held in October 2023 with various stakeholders. Prior to the new system, traffic at Pointe Seraphine experienced significant delays, especially at the start of the cruise season.
How the System Works
Commuters approaching the ports will now follow a two-way road up to the Financial Administrative Centre. After this point, vehicles heading toward the duty-free complex must exit via Seraphine Road, continuing onto the John Compton Highway. This transition into a one-way system eliminates the confusion caused by two-way traffic in the high-density area.

Streamlined Traffic Flow
The one-way system directs vehicles in a single, clear direction, helping to prevent congestion. It allows for smoother traffic movement, minimizing bottlenecks near the port. The new route ensures a more efficient journey, with fewer stops and less driver frustration.
Clear Signage for Drivers
The updated traffic system includes clear signage and road markings to guide drivers. Vehicles are directed onto the one-way section as they approach the port, ensuring smooth navigation through the area. This system reduces conflicts between opposing traffic, making the flow easier for all drivers.
Conclusion
The newly implemented one-way traffic system at Pointe Seraphine simplifies the driving experience for locals and visitors alike. For more details, visit the Ministry’s website or contact the Ministry of Infrastructure, Ports, Transport, Physical Development, and Urban Renewal.
