BREAKING: Three St Lucian “Windies” Women to Compete in Dubai

Nerissa “Breezy” Crafton, Quiana Joseph, and Zaida James will represent Saint Lucia on the West Indies Women’s Cricket Team for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in October.

The tournament was moved to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) due to political unrest in Bangladesh, the original host.

Crafton, 26, is a left-handed batter and medium pace bowler. Joseph, 23, has played 11 T20 Internationals, while James, 19, has 13 under her belt.

West Indies head coach Shane Deitz admitted Crafton’s selection surprised some but highlighted her strong regional performance and impressive showing at a recent training camp in Antigua and Barbuda.

Leading the team is 2023 T20 Cricketer of the Year, Hayley Matthews. Deandra Dottin, the “Universe Boss” returns from retirement to renew her partnership with Matthews and former captain Stefanie Taylor.

The West Indies will hold a two-week camp in Dubai before the World Cup, with two warmup matches planned.
