The West Indies men’s cricket team completed a 3-0 T20 series whitewash against South Africa on Tuesday under coach Darren Sammy. This feat continued a strong run with four wins in their last five series.
The Windies secured victory by eight wickets via the Duckworth-Lewis Method in Trinidad and Tobago, taking revenge on the Proteas, who had eliminated them from the ICC T20 World Cup.
Coach Sammy praised his team’s progress, stating, “It’s about moving forward and continuously putting on performances that allow us to be victorious.”
Captain Rovman Powell highlighted the team’s all-around performance, nothing the batting group’s consistency and the bowler’s strong response under pressure in the second match.
As the team prepares for the 2026 T20 World Cup in Sr Lanka and India, West Indies rotated their squad to find the best combinations. Shai Hope, who rarely featured in the last World Cup, earned Player of the Series.
Powell emphasized a flexible approach to selection, signaling a rebuilding phase. “We’re looking for cricketers, we’re looking for T20 players,” he said.
The victory could mark a turning point for the Men in Maroon as they aim to regain their dominance in international cricket.
