Julien Alfred took to Facebook to express heartfelt thanks to St Lucians in New York yesterday evening.
The Consulate General of St Lucia in New York collaborated with the St Lucia House Foundation and presented St Lucia Day 2024 to celebrate Julien Alfred as national hero.
St Lucians gathered in large number at the event to celebrate Alfred’s success. Other nationals joined in to the social media livestream to express gratitude and congratulations. The celebrations featured a poster of Julien Alfred in her honor.
Alfred took the time out to thank St Lucians in New York “for being part of the most joyous day celebrating our rich cultural heritage of our beautiful St Lucia.” The Gold and Silver Olympic medalist also thanked St Lucians for the overwhelming support they continue to show her.
She cited that bringing home the gold and silver as her gift to St Lucians and commended the Consulate General of St Lucia, and the St Lucia House Foundation, for hosting the St Lucia Day celebrations.
The event refueled anticipation of a public holiday to honor Alfred.
