A man in Choiseul was shot and killed chasing a robber, becoming the latest homicide victim in St Lucia.
Around 8:20pm on Thursday Choiseul Police Station officers responded to a report of a robbery and homicide in Mongouge, Choiseul. According to police, a gunman had confronted a business owner, attempting to steal a bag containing the day’s earnings.
Witnesses reported that the woman struggled with the robber and screamed for help. The suspect eventually overpowered her, took the bag, and fled.
A local resident who saw the incident pursued the robber. Shortly after, residents heard four gunshots and found the man, identified as Bernard Joseph, lying in the road with fatal gunshot wounds.
Police are continuing to investigate the homicide.
