Early Closure For Businesses And Government Offices Due To Tropical Storm Bret

In an address to the nation made on Wednesday night, Prime Minister Hon. Philip J. Pierre announced that businesses and government offices will close at 1:00 pm on Thursday, June 22nd, 2023 due to Tropical Storm Bret.  

The airports are expected to halt operations at 10:30 am as per the advice of aviation authorities. 

While schools are to remain closed. 

He says students writing the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) will not be affected, as the examination is scheduled for Thursday morning. 

Pierre says all government ministries and agencies with responsibility for disaster management and community disaster management committees across the island have been activated in preparation should the storm affect the country. 

The public is urged to familiarize themselves with the location of these centers in the respective communities. 

He stated the National Emergency Management Advisory Committee (NEMAC) was activated on Tuesday, June 20th, 2023 and he is expected to chair another meeting of NEMAC Thursday morning at 9:00 am. 

The Prime Minister encourages the public to remain calm and only seek information from official government resources.
