On Tuesday May 16th, 2023 the Saint Lucia Co-Operative Credit Union League LTD. Donated a sum of $6000 to the St. Lucy’s Home.
The donation serves to aid the home in recovering from the recent Covid-19 Pandemic.
The initiative came about after the home was unable to host its annual dinner due to the pandemic.
Lana Emmanuel a representative for the Credit Union says the organization understands the hardships that came with the pandemic and saw the need to help.
“Everyone was happy to help, usually the Saint Lucy’s home would have a dinner, an annual dinner but because of Covid they were unable to do so. So because we could not attend that dinner and support them in that way we were able to support them in another way.” she said.
Emmanuel says the funds were raised by donations from members who are part of the union along with managers.
“We raised funds by placing tins in each credit union so members visiting the credit union can give back and we were also given donations from the credit unions, from managers etc.” she added.
The home was very pleased to receive the funds and says the donation will go towards the home’s operating expenses.
