The Commonwealth has designated 2023 as the year of the youth.
With numerous activities on the agenda for the year dedicated to youth development and leadership. Minister for Youth Development Hon. Kenson Casimir says the focus is also on the fight against crime.
With activities currently underway island-wide and plenty more to be introduced, the minister says that they are heading in the right direction and much more can be expected as the year goes by.
“We have started with prayer and worship at the square, we’ve had our Easter camps for different communities and we also have different activities ongoing in Soufriere, Gros Islet and other constituencies.” the Gros Islet mp says.
He says with this year’s focus being the fight against crime most of the activities will be geared toward this theme.
“For the year of the youth and for this year our focus is on the fight against crime so most of the thematic areas you will see we will be diving into that. We are expecting to have a dance competition later on, you will see the ministry collaborate with the SLFA to bring out some messages as it pertains to the fight against crime and so I think we are heading in the right direction and more things will be happening as the year goes by.” he added.
The activities are scheduled to take place from April – December, 2023.
