On Monday 20th March 2023, Prime Minister Hon. Philip J Pierre disclosed that civil servants will be paid a total sum of 11.5 million dollars in back pay and will receive a pay increase.
He says, “On Thursday civil servants are going to receive 11.7 million dollars in back pay and their pay increase, which was negotiated by the last government but we are doing it. So from tomorrow all the provisions in the last collective agreement, which were not negotiated by us, negotiated by the last government but we are going to keep the promises of the last government”
The minister says all obligations which were previously promised to the civil servants will be met.
“All our obligations to them as far as the last collective agreement are going to be met.” he continued.
The disbursement of outstanding back-pay for the period 2019 – 2022 which totals XCD 11.5 million for both active and non-active public servants is scheduled to commence on Thursday, March 23rd, 2023.
