Statement from Ministry of Tourism

The Ministry of Tourism, Investment, Creative Industries, Culture and Information, through the review of its current legislative framework, held a series of stakeholder consultations in March, 2022 with the aim of obtaining feedback and recommendations on the proposed revision of the Tourism Incentives Act, Cap 15.30 of 1996.

Further to the consultations held in March, the Ministry has completed its review of all six (6) sectors of the industry and a new Bill has been drafted to be called the Tourism Development Act (TDA).

As such, the Ministry will be hosting follow-up stakeholder consultations on the draft Tourism Development Act (TDA) with week-long discussions commencing Monday 20th June at 9:00am at the Entrepot Human Resource Development Centre with representatives from various Agencies. Planned discussions with other key stakeholders within the tourism industry will continue from Tuesday 21st June, 2022 to Friday 24th June, 2022 at the Gros Islet Human Resource Development Centre from 9:00am – 3:30pm.

The Ministry anticipates fruitful discussion on the proposed provisions of the new legislation i.e. Tourism Development Act (TDA) and its eventual enactment scheduled for July, 2022.
