On Monday, January 27, 2025, at about 12:30 pm police officers attached to the Marigot Police Station received a report of wounding, which occurred at China Town, Marigot. On Thursday, February 6, 2025, the Marigot Police Station was informed that the victim succumbed to his injuries. The deceased has been identified as 58-year-old Maximin John of Marigot.
This announcement was made by Assistant Police Superintendent in charge of the Major Crimes Unit, Annanthar Wilson on Monday. āDuring the investigation, one male suspect, identified as 42-year-old Bonnie James of Marigot, was arrested in connection with this homicide. On Sunday, February 9, 2025, Bonnie James was formally charged with causing the death of Maximin John. He is scheduled to appear before the court for bail proceedings,ā she explained.
This comes as law enforcement officers work tirelessly to ensure law and order prevail in the country. Last month, the RSLPF recorded a 65% decrease in the number of homicides for January 2025 as compared to the previous year; 3 were recorded in January of this year while 8 were recorded in January 2024.
