Ben Emmanuel New Chairman of MHMC Board of Directors

The Cabinet of Ministers has agreed to appoint Mr. Ben Emmanuel to be the chairperson of the Millennium Heights Medical Complex Board,” announced Health Minister Moses Jn. Baptiste on Monday as the MHMC undergoes an administrative restructuring process.

Recently, the government appointed former Health Minister Dr. Damian Greaves as the Chief Executive of the Millennium Heights Medical Complex to assist in ushering in a new era of healthcare service delivery in the country.

Dr. Greaves, who specialises in public health administration, promises to augment the services at the MHMC. At the 2025-year launch of the medical facility, Dr. Greaves outlined a patient-centred approach to healthcare which would focus on communication with patients as the hospital as part of the hospital’s official policy.

Now, the government has made another step in what it describes as a health revolution in the island by appointing a new board of governors for the facility.

The other members of the Millennium Heights Medical Complex Board as proposed by Cabinet are Dr. Alicia Eugene Ford, who will serve as the deputy chairperson of the board, Mr. Wayne Gabriel, former chief environmental health officer, Mr. Perry Thomas, Dr. Ked Maddow, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Wellness, and Early Affairs, Ms. Jenny Daniel, a representative of a union representing the interests of the employees of the medical complex, and also a representative of a recognised consumer association,” explained Health Minister Jn Baptiste.

The newly appointed Chairman, former Cabinet Secretary Ben Emmanuel, says he looks forward to working with his colleague board members to address the issues plaguing the Medical Complex.

There is no doubt in my mind that the challenges of the Millennium Heights Medical Complex and the OKEU Hospital, in particular, remain something of major priority to the government and to all Saint Lucians. So in accepting the responsibility as chairman, I look forward to working with the board. I look forward also to working with the minister,” he said.

Health Minister Jn Baptiste also announced that the government is working on completing the construction of the OKEU Hospital’s 5th wing at the soonest.
