Sam ‘Juke Bois’ Flood Retires on 50th Anniversary

Legendary radio personality Sam ‘Juke Bois’ Flood has announced his retirement after nearly 50 years in the industry. He started his broadcasting career in 1974 with the Creole-language show “Radio-a ce sa nous” on Radio Caribbean International, which quickly gained popularity.

Flood revealed his decision to retire on August 17 during his morning show, “La Ba Di Jour.” He told his audience he plans to retire on the 50th anniversary of his debut in broadcasting.

Juke Bois is celebrated for pioneering revolutionary Creole radio programs. Before his shows, only brief five-minute segments were available and were aimed specifically at farmers. In contrast, his programs reached a much broader audience across St. Lucia, allowing listeners to enjoy up to two hours of Creole Content.

Former Radio personality Earl Huntley and veteran journalist Earl Bousquet have praised Flood for his work, calling him “dynamic” and “phenomenal”.

On Friday, August 30, 2024, ‘Juke Bois’ will officially retire. As he steps away from the microphone, he advises new media personalities to report objectively and condemn anything that negatively affects the people of St. Lucia.
