Minister for Tourism Hon. Dr. Ernest Hilaire disclosed to reporters in a Monday briefing that Air Canada has planned on increasing their flights to Saint Lucia significantly.
He says the airline has increased flights from one flight per week to three flights per week for the summer and daily flights for the winter season.
“We had a major promotion in Toronto, Air Canada has increased their flights from one a week to three a week now for the summer, going up to daily flights for the winter and for us, that’s a major achievement.” he shared.
He says airlines are still facing major challenges, although better than how it was during the COVID-19 pandemic there are still factors such as lack of equipment and crew that the airlines are having to deal with.
“The airlines are still complaining that they don’t have enough equipment, they don’t have enough crew. It’s better than it was just around COVID time, the reopening but they still have major challenges.” he stated.
However, Hilaire says he will continue working tirelessly on creating access to travel and bringing more flights to the island.
