Allen Chastanet Files Case Against Speaker Of The House And Attorney General

Opposition Leader Allen Chastanet announced on Wednesday, May 10th, 2023 that he has officially filed a case in High Court Against the Speaker and Attorney General of Saint Lucia.

“I will not be silenced! Today, I took a crucial step in upholding justice and protecting our constitutional rights. I have officially filed a case in the High Court against the Speaker and Attorney General of Saint Lucia.

This legal action is in response to the multiple breaches of my constitutional rights, including unlawful detention and their attempts to prevent me from attending future sessions of Parliament. I firmly believe in the importance of transparency, accountability, and the preservation of our democratic values.

This fight is not just for me, but for the democratic principles and values that we all hold dear. I will not rest until justice is served.” he wrote on his Facebook account.

On Tuesday afternoon with the inability to prove his accusations made against Richard Fredrick, it was decided by the Speaker of The House Claudius Francis and members of the chamber that Allen Chastanet will be denied access to the chamber until he issues an apology and withdraw his statements made against the minster and the government.
